348 S. Main Street, Room 140 This office is comprised of two departments: E-911 and Mapping. The E-911 department assigns new addresses, makes road signs, and maintains the 911 equipment in the Law Enforcement Center. Mapping maintains current property ownership maps for taxpayers of Alleghany County. Parcels can be identified by owners, location, deed book and page, and parcel number. The office in continually updating our records to reflect land transfers, splits and combinations. We are very proud of our active GIS (Geographic Information Systems) website that displays county land online and is updated once a month. This site has many data layers showing particular features of the land, including: parcel coverages, roads, hydrology, flood, watershed, high quality water areas....just to name a few. You can search by owner's name, parcel number, deed reference or by address. Everyone loves this site! We also assist other agencies in developing GIS Layers for their use within their department. We can assist taxpayers, law offices, realtors, surveyors and other individuals on any land record information that we have in the office.
Our office hours are from 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday.
