Welcome to the Alleghany County Inspection Department web site. Our Department was established in 1985 under the direction of the Alleghany County Commissioners and the North Carolina Department of Insurance.

Our purpose is to provide for the health, general welfare, and public safety of you and your family through the enforcement of the North Carolina State Building Codes (electrical, mechanical, plumbing, building and accessibility codes) and of local ordinances related to construction.

The inspectors' office is located in the lower level of the County Administration Building at 348 South Main Street. For information on what is required to be permitted, permit fees, permit applications, or directions to the office call the office at 372-8974 between 7:00am until Noon and 1:00pm until 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.
