Alleghany County's budget consists of several different funds with the
main fund being the General Fund. The General Fund contains ad valorem taxes,
sales tax receipts, federal & state revenues, service fees as well as the
expenses for the majority of County departments. The following illustrates the
budget timeline for fiscal year 2007/2008.

On June 4, 2007, the County Manager presented the Fiscal Year 2007/2008 Budget Message to the Board of
Commissioners.
The Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on June 18 at
6:00pm for citizens to comment on the proposed fiscal year 2007/2008 budget.
After the public hearing, the Board of Commissioners approved the Fiscal Year 2007/2008 Budget Ordinance. The Budget Ordinance details the revenues and expenses for
each one of the funds.
