Alleghany County's budget consists of several different funds with the
main fund being the General Fund. The General Fund contains ad valorem taxes,
sales tax receipts, federal & state revenues, service fees as well as the
expenses for the majority of County departments. The following illustrates the
budget timeline for fiscal year 2009/2010.

On June 1, 2009, the County Manager presented the Fiscal Year 2009/2010 Budget Message to the Board of
Commissioners.
The Board of Commissioners held a public hearing on June 30 at
6:30pm for citizens to provide comments on the proposed fiscal year 2009/2010
budget. After the public hearing, the Board of Commissioners
adopted the Fiscal Year 2009/2010 Budget
Ordinance. The Budget Ordinance details
the revenues and expenses for each one of the funds.
